DIVERSIFIED CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS (bodywork integrated with adjustments)

Diversified indicates that Dr. Janeen is thoroughly trained in multiple techniques to achieve a lasting alignment and prolonged health benefits.  She incorporates Manual adjustments along with Myofascial therapy, Trigger Point therapy, Decompression / Traction, Sacro-occipital technique (SOT), Activator technique, Drop Table, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching techniques, and Kinesiotape therapy.  Janeen offers her own comprehensive technique that may redefine your previous experiences with her chiro-colleagues. She pairs clinically directed deep tissue work with diversified manual adjustments to restricted/hypo-mobile segments of the spine and extremities. When these techniques are utilized together, a gentler adjustment is achieved, and the body is able to sustainably promote lasting relief.

COLD LASER is our newest addition to the office!  Cold Laser Treatment delivers a deep, penetrating, photonic (light) energy to bring about profound physiological changes. Laser therapy increases ATP ( or energy) production within each cell, angiogenesis or formation of new capillaries to damaged tissues, reduction of inflammatory prostaglandins while increasing anti inflammatory prostaglandin release, stimulation of immune cells, increased endorphin relief, increased nitric oxide production and blocking of C fibers or nerve fibers carrying pain signals to the brain.

Simply put, laser therapy reduces pain, increases wound and tissue healing, increases circulation, stimulates regeneration of peripheral nerves, improves nerve function, reduces muscle spasms, speeds up tissue repair, reduces inflammation, swelling and scar tissue formation. This therapy can be added to a typical appointment or scheduled by itself (depending on the injury it can take between 2-10 mins).

POSTURAL STRENGTHING CLASSES  (group series offered several times a year and 1-on-1 anytime)

Dr. Janeen is also a biomechanics nerd and loves to assist her patients in understanding how injuries occur and how they can be avoided.  Proper movement patterns are key in maintaining a strong, stabile, and long-lasting (happy) body.  Check out Dr. Janeen's Foundation Training classes at Biltmore Fitness!  Her classes are sure to get you moving in the right direction and out of pain!

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system based on the understanding that treating problems of the spine will improve the health of the body via the nervous system.  Dr. Janeen's degrees in Kinesiology and Chiropractic combined with her expertise as an Anatomy and Physiology professor allow her to bring a great knowledge and understanding of the body and all of its complexities to her treatments.  You will find that seeing Dr. Janeen is a different experience from that of most chiropractors.  Her goal is to thoroughly analyse your condition to find the root causes of your pain.  Dr. Janeen often incorporates Myofacial and Trigger Point work along with her Chiropractic treatments to bring a holistic approach to your healing. She is not afraid to share the details of her treatments with you to provide a thorough understanding of the processes she is using, and she is often known to incorporate a few puns into the mix!

Myofascial & Trigger Point

Deep Myofascial Therapy employs clinically directed soft tissue techniques to release peripheral entrapments and correct muscular imbalances.  It is used to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.  Myofascial work deals with fascia, the thin and dense regular connective tissue that encases most structures in the body. This tissue can become restricted over time due to postural habits, trauma, inactivity, or disease, and the effects of this restriction can include pain, muscle tension, and diminished blood flow.  Trigger Point therapy deals with tender "knots" in the muscle.  These "knots" are associated with underlying palpable nodules in the bands of muscle fibers.  By releasing trigger points and myofacial tension, Dr. Janeen can improve blood flow and circulation throughout areas of pain or limited mobility and allow her therapy to be more effective and long-lasting.

Sacro-occipital Technique

The Sacro-occipital Technique is based on a system of recognizing and adjusting patterns in the body and seeing connections rather than focusing entirely on a single body part.  The practioner uses indicators observed throughout the body to determine when, where and how to adjust.  SOT offers very detailed methods so that each individual can have their specific needs evaluated.  Dr. Janeen uses SOT in the treatment of cranial and TMJ issues such as migraines and jaw pain, as well as problems with the feet, ankles, knees, hips, hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders.  She also uses this method of indicators to determine if the adjustments she made in previous sessions have been effective, and to then design different adjustments as needed to resolve the issue.  The treatments involve comfortable pressure applied to the cranial bones during inhalation of breath, while wedge blocking the pelvis to correct pelvic obliquities and imbalances between the pelvis and skull.

Testimonial

I've been in Dr. Janeen Hulbert's profession long enough to recognize clinical excellence when I see it.  I've been in her presence long enough to know that she delivers a level of care our patients deserve but seldom receive.

Given her skill, dedication and empathy, I'm convinced that she will be acknowledged as one of our greatest chiropractors.
